A creative approach to designing an inclusive training programme

Challenge: Create an inclusive training programme sensitive to the diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds of participants.

Understanding commercial goals and learner needs is critical to the success of any learning solutions programme. We start by having a deep understanding of the audience and how the training will be executed. We take a very different approach for a train-the-trainer, where knowledge must be cascaded, compared to a direct model where the learning will be immediately implemented.

To address this specific challenge, we designed a highly interactive and kinaesthetic learning programme sensitive to the cultural differences and learning preferences of participants. Often, non-native English speakers suffer from the fatigue of mentally translating the wealth of information they receive, so breakout sessions were crucial to allow participants to discuss their learnings in their own languages.

Facilitation played a key role in fostering collaboration and ensuring all learners felt that their voices were heard. Supporting tools were carefully selected to complement the programme, making the experience seamless and enjoyable. The result was a training programme that didn’t just inform – it inspired, connected and delivered real results – including a promotion for the client!
